![]() Gateshead Young Womens Outreach Project Background Information on the Project ![]() The Young Women's Project was established in 1992 after it was identified by workers from different agencies and services that a specialist project would be of value to Gateshead young women. From the outset the project has been embedded within the Gateshead Youth and Community Learning Service and embraces the principles and practices of community education. Since 1996 it has also been a registered charity (no:1062922) with a consitiution and Management Committee. The shape of the service offered by the Project to young women has developed in response to requests by young women themselves, by others who come into contact with young women and by the worker team responding to the issues that affect and impact upon the lives of young women. The Young Women's Project is well-established as a service provider and makes a significant contribution to the implementation of the Teenage Pregnancy Strategy in Gateshead. The project produced an information booklet to enable those interested to find out more about the diversity of the organisation, and the breadth of the work carried out by and within the Project.
