Gateshead Young Women's Outreach Project

Support, Information and Empowering Learning Opportunities for Young Women and Young Mothers.

Alt Text
The Young Women's Project was established in 1992 after it was identified by workers from different agencies and services that a specialist project would be of value to Gateshead young women.

Many people, particularly women, lack confidence and self esteem for a vast range of reasons, and this can have a major impact on their lives, The Young Women's Project offers empowering learning opportunities where skills can be developed and built upon, enabling young women to value themselves and make confident decisions about their lives. The workers offer support to help the women take full control of their lives and to take an active part in their community.

Broadly speaking, the project:

* works with groups & individuals,
* promotes work with young women,
* provides training,
* promotes family learning,
* offers one to one support,
* information and guidance,
* networks and works in partnership with other agencies and organisations,
* shares ideas, resources and work methods,
* addresses issues that affect young women,
* advocates on behalf of young women,
* supportively 'signposts' young women to other services,
* and much much more....
